What is the deadline for abstract submission?
The deadline for abstract submission is 7 December 2016, 21:00 Central European time.


How do I submit an abstract?
Abstracts can only be submitted online. Abstracts submitted by regular mail, fax or e-mail will not be allowed.


How many abstracts can I submit?
Authors may submit an unlimited number abstracts. 


What is the maximum length my abstract?
The total character count for a single abstract is 2,900 characters. Characters include everything in the abstract body, including table and spaces. Title, author names and institutions are not included in the total.


What information is required for abstract submission?
You will be asked to input the following information: presenting author details, co-author details, topic, subtopic, presentation preference (poster/oral), abstract title, abstract text, keywords, and conflict of interest disclosure. All steps must be completed or partially completed in order to save the abstract for later.


What information is required for the conflict of interest declaration?
Financial interest in products and processes described in the abstract must be declared for all authors. Specifically: ownership, advisory board, board of directors, corporate-sponsored research, and other substantive relationships.


Do I have to structure my abstract in a specific format?
The abstract body text should be structured to include the following 4 sections: Background, Material and Methods, Results, and Conclusions.


Can I submit a Trial in Progress abstract?
No, Trial in Progress abstracts will not be considered.


Can I submit an encore abstract?
Yes, encore abstracts will be considered.


May I include a table with my abstract?
Yes, one table may be included in the abstract. All characters in the table count toward the total character count. No figures or images may be included.


How many authors can be included on my abstract?
The maximum number of authors is 20.


Can I save an incomplete abstract for later?
Yes, however all steps must be completed or partially completed in order to save your abstract for later.


Can I revise my abstract after it has been submitted?
You may edit your abstract on the submission website until the deadline, as long as you only click on “Save and Close”. Do not forget to click on “Final Submission” prior to the submission deadline. Once you have clicked on “Final Submission”, you can no longer revise your abstract.


Do I need to submit a shell or placeholder abstract for my late-breaking abstract?
No, do not submit a placeholder abstract. If you wish to submit a late-breaking abstract, please do so only during the LBA submission period between 7 November and 7 December 2016.


Is there an abstract submission fee?
No, abstract submission is free of charge.


Who holds the copyright on my abstract?
Authors retain the copyright of their abstract. However, authors release the copyright to ECCO and give permission for the abstract, when selected for presentation, to be published in the ECCO2017 European Cancer Congress Abstract book - a European Journal of Cancer Supplement (in electronic format), as well as on the ECCO2017 website.


If I would like to withdraw my abstract what should I do?
The presenting author should submit a request to withdraw the abstract by 31 October 2016 to


When and how will I receive notification about the status of my abstract?
Notification regarding acceptance or rejection of abstracts will be sent by email to the presenting author by the end of December. The decision of the ECCO2017 Committee regarding acceptance and presentation of abstracts is final.


Does submitting my abstract mean I am automatically registered to attend ECCO2017?
Submitting an abstract for presentation in the ECCO2017 European Cancer Congress does not constitute registration for the congress. Abstract presenters must register to attend the ECCO2017.
